Keep It Simple: Report Card Comments!

It is report card season around our neck of the woods. In Beth's life this always incites a bit of panic. I’m currently in the land of last minute score inputs, retesting those border kiddos and thinking “How did that ONE kiddo not take Unit 3 wayyyyyy back in November!”

Anyways,  I like to include a brief narrative for each parent describing areas of strength and room for growth. However, some over-achiever part of my brain takes control and starts writing an entire page-long novel for each kid!

Realizing how increadibly time consuming and insane this was, I appealed for help! A teammate of mine suggested using 2x4 shipping labels to print comments on! This was PERFECT for me! It limited what I could I say, while still allowing enough space to get my message across! Plus, I can tiny up the font for those I-just-have-to-say-more  kiddos!
Tip: I've found Calibri size 11 font gets the job done for most kiddos!

These labels come in two columns, which is perfect! I want two copies of each comment. This way, I can stick one to the student’s report card and save one for records. I type one comment on the left and copy it to the sticker on the right!  Easy-peasy lemon squeezy report card comments!

And, it works out perfect if you have electronic report cards! Zangle anyone? The sticker fits right into this empty space!

Sorry about the low quality pictures! I only had my iPad and a certain someone was acting attention deprived and ruining the “photo shoot.”

I hope your week is off to an amazing start!!

I love this idea! I am always writing notes on the actual printed report card and it ends up taking over. haha. I will definitely have to use this next time.

Our principal just started requiring us to use labels on our report cards this year. I think it's a great idea :) Thanks for sharing. Of course, now I'm having anxiety because I have to have my report cards done by Friday.

I had to pass this along to you ladies because I chuckled when I read this email. I received an email from our school improvement coach with a link to your blog and some of your activities! I was very tempted to email her back and say, sorry, I beat you to it, but I didn't! All this blog-stalking pays off!
