Hello Everyone! I am sure your life is much like mine: a
to-do list that really is impossible. You know your to-do list is the pits when
it includes: “Write Sub Plans (Friday/Monday).” Heartbreaking update: It’s not
for anything fun or meetings that will end early… More like Benchmark
Testing/PD & Data Walls.
So, I thought I would pop in with a quick share Wednesday
(Is that a thing you may be wondering…WELL it is today!)
Before I had even found one teacher blog and wayyyyyyyyyyy before Pinterest, I relied exclusively
on ProTeacher.com to provide guidance and inspiration. I found these guided
reading plans that I really LOVED.
I keep all my reading group supplies in color coded book
boxes and save their plans in a corresponding folder. So, this was GREAT!
After sometime I found that my progress
monitoring/tracking was a disastrous mess…. So, I modified the template to
include some space to record observations and student goals. I found
keeping everything in one place has been really helpful.
They look a little something like this.
The last two slots are open because I'll make sure to get something recorded before the end of the week. |
To be honest, some days I’m filling them in super last minute... And that diagram on the right is a double bubble map... NOT a spider!
Thank goodness this week is going quickly! The anticipation
of Valentine’s Day is helping us move along!
Enjoy your Wednesday!!! Be thankful you’re not writing subplans!
Or, if you are, I feel your pain!

Love these! I'm out Friday for my district's common core adoption committee, so I feel your pain in writing sub plans! :)

Stories From Second
I do feel your pain! I've only taken 1 day this year, but have written sub plans I know 5-6 times for meetings or professional developments. Ugh. Thanks for the guided reading lp template. Still working on getting my plan together :) You are awesome for sharing, as always!

Journey of a Substitute Teacher
This is awesome, thank you so much for sharing!! At least your writing sub plans for a training/P.D. day instead of a sick day [thought I might have to do that for tomorrow-yikes!]. Enjoy the rest of the week! !

Great template! Are you meeting with every small group every day to cover those objectives?
I used to live on proteacher....
Love the plans!!!!

Lisa and Beth-
Thanks for the comments on my blog. It's so nice to know that I'm not writing stuff to myself out there! :)
The blogger event was great! I was so inspired by all of you.
I especially loved your post today. That's the best guided reading LP page that I've ever seen. It's straight to the point, the objectives are clear, and there's enough room to write in all the spaces for each day. I don't even do separate groups, because I only teach a small-group literacy class, but even then, I could probably split that group into two. I may use a similar version for my group in the future.
Thanks!
I love this!! I am using it today during reading time!!!Thanks Melissa
Love this! I'm your newest follower!

Lesson plans & Lattes
I would LOVE to see your data walls. We are just starting ours after a few years of aimsweb benchmarking.
This is great. When I go to print from Google Docs. The title and a few other parts are blacked out. Does anyone know if I am doing something wrong? Thanks!
Hi I just came across your blog..how do you plan throughout the guided reading lesson? For instance what do you do before you introduce the text, during the lesson, and after? 1st year teaching, so just curious. :)
Thanks for the planner! I know it's going to be a big help!
