The Day After...Valentine's Day {FREEBIES}!

Happy Valentine's Day all!  Hope you are feelin' the LOVE :)  This is just gonna be a quick, lil post because I am headed out for some P.F. Chang's with the hubs (YUM!).  I love Valentine's Day because you get to show everyone how much you truly care for them (it should be that way all the time, but sadly we're all crazy busy most of the time)!  So, to show you how much Beth and I care about each and everyone of YOU...we made you a little day after Valentine's Day activity pack to use with your kiddos to remind to show kindness and love all through the year!

Last Minute Valentine's Day Freebie!

Hello Monday everyone! At least it’s not a full moon Monday! That coming from the girl that worked a half day – the half with the special AND recess in it! Plus, all the hearts and lovey dovey stuff may have created a "Cloud 9" kind of day!

Every year for Valentine’s Day we ask parents to send in the same things: ice cream, syrup, sprinkles, bananas, pineapple, and conversation hearts. Every year I get about 50 billion conversation hearts! Over the years my team has become quite resourceful with conversation hearts

This post has some activities we do with the countless conversation hearts we’ve already collected!

Click this will take you the Google Documents File with these!

The files include a few graphing choices to fit your needs and....
- Measuring with Hearts
- Writing Sentences with the Hearts
- Word Wall Bingo (Using hearts as chips)

Happy Valentine’s Day tomorrow everyone!

P.S. My kiddos are totally getting these tomorrow!! Bless The TeacherWife!! They’re going to flip with excitement (Plus they were totally last minute friendly!)!!

100 Acts of Kindness and a {FREEBIE}! :)

Happy Monday bloggy buddies!  So glad to be back, I missed you guys :)  I am super psyched about Valentine's Day next week, are you???  We have been working on showing some love and kindness toward each other in my class and it has been a little tough.  So, you know me, I had to make it FUN!!!  We read one of my fave Valentine's Day/Character Trait books "Kindness is Cooler, Mrs. Ruler!" where a teacher challenges her class to 100 acts of kindness.

That's exactly what I proposed my students do.  I gave them this template and bought some foam hearts from the Target dollar section and set them to work.  We've been working for a little over a week and we have about fifty acts of kindness done (they have until Valentine's Day to finish 100 acts of kindness for the class).  I must say they've really seemed to be trying A LOT harder to be kind to each other which makes me one HAPPY teacher! :)  Here's our door so far... And if you'd like the template I used to for their hearts click HERE or the pic of the template below :)

Enjoy and have a FAB rest of your Monday!

Valentine's Day Acrostic Poem Craft :)

Happy Friday Bloggy Friends!  Hope your weekend is off to a GREAT start :)  I created this Valentine's Day acrostic poem craft after seeing an adorable pic on Pinterest!  I fell in LOVE with how super cute this was and had to come up with a way to incorporate this into my classroom.  We have been spending A LOT of time on descriptive adjectives, so we used our names and adjectives that described us to create this project.

If you'd like to make this cute craft that my kids LOVED...Here's what you'll need:

A package of foam heart templates (these are from the Target Dollar Section).  I'm terrible with keeping the templates that I make from year to year, so I chose to use these foam hearts (just the red ones, the pink ones are ruffled are were too difficult for my 2nd graders to cut properly).  If you'd like a heart template the same size as the foam hearts, CLICK HERE :)

I have 26 students in my class, so I purchased 9 of these packages of felt ric-rac to be the ribbon portion.  Of course, these are also from the Target Dollar Section.

Then, I purchased 3 packages of 60 plates from the Dollar Tree.  These are snack sized plates that were used to create the 3D effect of the hearts.  You will also need sets of watercolor paints for the students to use to paint the white side of the plates.

Are you still there???  Good!  Here's the steps to actually make this cute project!

First, I had the students create a circle map with adjectives that described them.  Then, they circled their favorite adjectives (that fit the letters of their name) and wrote them down in a rough draft.

Next, have the students trace the foam (or paper) heart templates and cut them out.

Once all plates are cut out, have the students use watercolors to paint the white side of their plates.  These will dry in an hour or so.  I had them paint on a Friday afternoon and we came back on Monday to finish writing the poem on the plates and add the felt ric-rac.

When all the plates are dry, have the students write each letter of their name and adjective on each plate.  After that, use Elmer's glue to glue the felt ric-rac on the back of the plates.  I finished off the poems with an adorable little clip (of course from the Target Dollar Section) to hang in the hallway.

Are these cute or what?!?!  Have a a great rest of your weekend :)
